A virtually unknown Martin Lawrence soon joined the cast as Kid ‘N Play’s hapless buddy, Bilal—fresh off his first big screen appearance in Lee’s 1989 classic Do The Right Thing. “House Party” was on the surface a musical comedy aimed at younger audiences (even though it received an R rating) but it was so much more.
